ABOUT THE BLACK PEARL SHOW

A Pirates of the Caribbean Podcast

The Black Pearl Show is a podcast for anyone who has ever wanted to sail a little deeper into the world of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Originally launched as Pirates of the Caribbean Minute on January 6, 2017, the show began with a wonderfully simple—and perhaps slightly unhinged—mission: break down the Pirates of the Caribbean films one minute at a time. Beginning with The Curse of the Black Pearl, we analyze, scrutinize, celebrate, question, and occasionally plunder our way through the movies, uncovering the details, characters, filmmaking, mythology, and wonderfully strange moments that make the series worth revisiting again and again.

But there are far more waters to explore than the films alone.

The Black Pearl Show ventures into the larger Pirates of the Caribbean universe, behind-the-scenes stories, Disney’s legendary attraction, Imagineering, books, games, forgotten corners of pirate lore, and the real history of the Golden Age of Piracy. Sometimes Hollywood gets the history surprisingly right. Sometimes it most certainly does not. Either way, we’re probably going to talk about it.

At the helm are Scott & Heather Artis, two longtime pirate obsessives with hundreds of episodes behind them, an unreasonable amount of historical research, and probably some rum. What began as a minute-by-minute movie podcast has grown into a place for fellow fans, history lovers, Disney devotees, and anyone else willing to climb aboard.

So whether you’ve been part of the Cursed Listeners’ Crew since 2017 or you’ve just wandered into port…

Welcome aboard.
